Terms
The terms, in the same plain words as everything else.
These terms cover your use of GoalRunner. They are written to be read rather than clicked past, and every factual claim in them is one you can check against the Privacy Policy and the pricing page.
Who we are
GoalRunner is made by UnKAnscious LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company. You can reach a person about anything on this page at bt@unkanscious.com.
These terms cover your use of the GoalRunner application. Our Privacy Policy covers what GoalRunner reads, what we keep, and what you can do about it, and it is part of this agreement.
What GoalRunner is, and what stage it is at
GoalRunner reads the Gmail mailbox you connect and tells you what you owe, what you are owed, and when you are finished with everything it watches — showing you the message behind every claim.
GoalRunner is early software in Private Alpha, and access is by invitation. We are saying that in the terms as well as on the website because it should affect your decision: things change, things break, and you would be among the first people using it.
Access
We grant access to named accounts, one at a time. You may not share your access, and you may not use GoalRunner on a mailbox you are not authorised to read.
We may end your access if you break these terms, if we are required to, or if we stop offering the product. If we end your access for any reason other than your breach of these terms, we will refund any period you have paid for and have not used. We will tell you before we do it, unless we are prevented from doing so.
Your Google account
You connect your own Gmail, and you authorise what GoalRunner may do at the point Google asks you. GoalRunner requests one Gmail permission, and the Privacy Policy lists every read and every write it performs.
You can revoke that access yourself at any time, without asking us, at myaccount.google.com/permissions. That is the authoritative way to end our access to your mailbox, and it works even if something on our side has failed.
What GoalRunner will not do
These are commitments, not descriptions of current behaviour, and we will not change them without changing this page first.
- It never permanently deletes your mail. Moving a conversation to Trash uses Gmail's own Trash, which you can undo, and which Gmail keeps for 30 days.
- It never sends mail unless you confirmed it. Every message that leaves your mailbox is a Gmail draft you saw and approved.
- It never changes anything in your mailbox unless you press a control in GoalRunner. Labels, read and unread, starring, moving to Trash and back, and drafts are all things you do.
- Reading is the exception, and it is the only one. GoalRunner reads your mail so that what it shows you is current, and that reading is not something you press each time. It only ever reads.
Your decisions are yours
GoalRunner recommends; you decide. It tells you what it believes still needs you, shows you the evidence, and you choose what to do.
GoalRunner does not find everything, and we do not claim it does. It reports what it watches and tells you what it watches, so you can see the boundary of what it looked at. You remain responsible for your own commitments, and you should not treat GoalRunner's statement that you are finished as a substitute for your own judgement. If something outside the mailbox you connected needs you, GoalRunner will not know about it.
Paying for GoalRunner
- Founding Member access is $39 a month, billed monthly in US dollars. If you join as a Founding Member, that price is held for twelve months from your first payment. The current price is always on the pricing page.
- Access is by invitation, and we sometimes agree a free trial period with you before the first payment. If we do, we tell you in writing on what date it starts and on what date it ends, and we do not ask for a card during it.
- Payment is handled by our payment processor, Stripe. You enter your card details on pages Stripe hosts and operates. We never see, handle or store your card number.
- You can cancel at any time, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for. We do not pro-rate a part-month when you cancel — though see the guarantee below, which is broader than a pro-rata refund would be.
- Our guarantee: if any month did not earn its $39, tell us and we will refund that month. You are the judge, and you do not have to justify it.
Prices exclude any taxes that may apply.
Ending your account, and deletion
You may stop using GoalRunner at any time. Disconnecting Gmail removes the credential we hold; on its own it does not delete what GoalRunner already recorded, because reconnecting should not start you from nothing.
To have your data deleted, email bt@unkanscious.com. We will delete your workspace's stored data — metadata, understanding, quotations, credentials and any evaluation copy of your mail — and confirm to you in writing when it is done.
If you are paying us, ask us to cancel your subscription at the same time, or tell us to do both. Deleting your data does not by itself stop a subscription, and cancelling a subscription does not by itself delete your data.
Your content
Your mail is yours. We claim no ownership of it, and connecting a mailbox does not give us any right to it beyond running the product for you and the accuracy-checking described in the Privacy Policy, which happens only for a mailbox whose owner has agreed to it.
What we cannot promise
GoalRunner is provided “as is”. We do not promise it will be available without interruption, that it will be free of errors, or that it will identify every commitment in your mailbox. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Our total liability to you, for everything, is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits or lost business, or for a commitment you missed. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
We say this plainly rather than in the usual way because the honest position is the same either way: this is early software, made by a very small company, sold for $39 a month, and you should not build a liability onto it that its price could never carry.
Changes to these terms
If the product changes, this page changes first, and the date at the top changes with it. If a change materially affects you as a paying customer, we will email you before it takes effect, and you may cancel.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, United States, and the courts of North Carolina have jurisdiction.
