Discuss an engagement

There is no form with fourteen fields and no discovery call to book a discovery call. Write a paragraph about the problem and you will get a direct answer about whether it is one we should take.

What to send

Write to bt@unkanscious.com with the subject line Engagement, and tell us:

  • What the problem actually is, in your own words. A rough paragraph beats a polished brief.
  • Who is affected and by when — a board meeting, an audit, a customer commitment, a launch.
  • What has already been tried, if anything, and why it did not settle the question.
  • Any hard constraint we should know at the start: procurement requirements, a certification your vendors must hold, a timeline that cannot move.

We will tell you within a few days whether this is work we should take. If it is not, we will say why, and where we can we will name someone better placed to do it.

What happens next

  1. First

A reply from a person, not an auto-responder — either a real answer to your question or a short list of what we would need to know to give one.

  2. Then

One conversation, scheduled, with the person who would lead the work. The purpose is to establish whether the problem is what it appears to be. Nothing is sold in it.

  3. If it fits

A written scope: what will be done, what you receive, what it costs, and when it ends. You approve it before anything starts.

  4. If it does not

We say so plainly, and where we can we point you somewhere better. This happens, and it is not a failure of the conversation.

If what you actually want is the software — something that keeps track of what you owe and what you are owed across your mail — that is GoalRunner, and it does not involve an engagement at all.
