A registered nurse who spent her career making high-consequence information usable by the person in front of her — and who decides whether what we build is simple enough to use.
UnKAnscious has two co-founders and two co-CEOs, and they do not build the same thing. Bron works on systems, security and authority — what a machine may understand and what it is permitted to do. Heather works on the other half: what a person is actually handed, and whether they can act on it.
Both halves are load-bearing. An authority model nobody can read is not a safeguard, and an interface with nothing underneath it is not trustworthy. The company is the part where the two hold each other up.
Why a nurse is the right person for this
Heather is a registered nurse — RN, BSN, PHN. Clinical work is the discipline of high-consequence information under time pressure: a great deal is known about a patient, almost none of it matters in the next four minutes, and the cost of showing the wrong thing to the wrong person is not an inconvenience.
That discipline carries directly into GoalRunner. The product reads a mailbox and knows a great deal. Almost none of it deserves someone's attention right now. The engineering question is what it can understand; the design question is what it should say, in what order, and what it must not bury — and the second question decides whether any of the first was worth doing.
What she decides
Heather is design leadership for GoalRunner: how the product works, what it shows, and what a person sees at the moment they have to decide. In practice that is the standard the work has to clear before it ships — whether what we built is simple enough to use.
It is a real veto, not a review stage. A verdict the product cannot explain in a sentence, a screen that needs teaching, an interface that is honest but unreadable — those are failures on her side of the company, and they are stopped there.

The company's own principle — that an AI system may be allowed to understand a great deal while its power to act stays a separate, explicit grant — has a design consequence, and it is hers: the person keeping that authority has to be able to see what they are authorizing. Everything GoalRunner shows is built to make that possible.
